Umpire Code of Conduct

I Will:

  • Treat all players with respect
  • Accept responsibility for all actions taken. Exercise reasonable care to prevent injury by ensuring players play within the rules. Reasonable care means advising the players of illegal body movements, detecting and correctly penalising infringements

  • Avoid situations which may lead to a conflict of interest
  • Be courteous, respectful and open to discussion and interaction

Player Code of Conduct

I Will:

  • Participate because I enjoy playing netball, not just because my parents or coach wants me to
  • Always ensure I know all the rules and play within them
  • Participate in a fair and safe manner

  • Conduct myself in a responsible manner relating to language, temper and punctuality
  • Co-operate with my coach/s and other players, treating others as I would wish to be treated
  • Always ensure that my behaviour is fair
  • Always be supportive of and patient with my fellow teammates
  • Be a responsible member of my team by being on time to training, attending all training sessions, and always having the appropriate equipment. This includes correct footwear
  • Respect and acknowledge the contribution of those who create the opportunity for me to play. This includes the members of the Hi-Lites Committee, volunteer coaches, scorers, and team managers.

Parent or Guardian Code of Conduct

I Will:

  • Encourage my child to participate in Netball only if they are interested. I realise that that my child should be involved in organised activity for their enjoyment, not mine
  • Focus on my child’s efforts and performance rather that the overall outcome of a game
  • Teach my child that an honest effort is as important as victory
  • Encourage my child to always play according to the rules
  • Never ridicule or yell at any child for making a mistake or losing a game
  • If I disagree with a coaching decision, I will raise the issue through the appropriate channels rather that question the coach’s judgement and honesty in public
  • Be a model of good sportsmanship for children to copy
  • Support all efforts to stop physical and verbal abuse
  • Be courteous in communication with administrators, coaches, players and umpires and teach children to do likewise
  • Recognise and respect the value and importance of volunteer administrators, coaches and umpires. They give up their time and resources to provide recreational activities for players and deserve my support
